Auditions

Ok so here's the deal. Auditions are coming up for are schools winter musical. The play is 'Once Upon a Mattress'. I was wondering if any one had any tips for me to prepare for the auditions. They only need 35 people in the play and about 85 try out. If you need a visual, there are usal 4-5 people that are directing the play that are there plus 5-6 more people that are auditioning I am in choir, and i wasn't in the last play but the play before it I was (if that makes any sense). I am trying out for a role that isn't really a lead but I would have a solo singing piece and about 25 lines to memorize. Thanks!

You Go girl! you can do it! Just try not to let nerves get to you, give it your best shot thats all you can do, remember on your audition that it is your chance to shine and I know you will!

If it was me, i'd be really nervous to sing infront of people with no backing

even though I think i'm quite good.

But that's me, & i wish i wasn't like that XD so go for it!!!! ;D

I'm in drama too! My tip is to forget that anyone is watching you. The first time I tried out I was too obsessed with looking cool to do my best. The other times I've always just read the script they give me as smoothly as possible and pay attention to little stage directions. I play in the school orchestra and I'm first chair viola which sits front and center, so I know what its like to do something musical fo audiences too.

So my tip would be to try to try out with friends. (is it just me or did that sentance repeat itslef a bit too much?) Also dont worry! Its a lot easier than you think.

This reminded me of a story my friend told me. Her cousin was in the school band and was worried about being on stage. She told him just to imagine everyone naked. He said that made it worse. Now everyone was laughing at him becaus he was the only one wearing clothes!

Thanks so much for all the advice, I'll be sure to tell you how they go but there not for another 3 weeks so I'll be way more nevrous then! I will be trying out with a few of my close friends hopeful that will help!

I just got back from the auditions. They went GREAT!! My friend did really well and said I did a great job. I was so nerveous. I won't know what part I got until Friday so now it's time to wait.

yay! I got a pretty good part in my play too. The fact that I'm married to one of my buddies makes it a bit awkward, but alls cool (plus the drama teachers refuses to let me wear roller skates and dress like the girls from the 'Little Razorblade' video by the Pink Spiders!)

I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!! I found out on Friday but I was in Texas for a funeral (my uncle), so there was no computer acess at there house. I ddin't get the part I wanted but I got in. Thankfully most of my friends got in too, were all the princesses otherwise known as the chours but it's better than nothing! Thnks so much for everything you guys!

yay! my nickname(s) are already Mia, Bubblez, Mad Skittles (like mad ill, but skittles) Slinky Malinky (from that childrens book. A kitty cat named Slinky Malinky gets in lots of trouble. My dad calls me that), Pumpkin (my mom calls me that noo clue why)
