Synesthesia

I have synesthesia. The wikipedia states it as "a neurologically based phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway."

So basically I see emotions and sounds and pretty much everything else as colours. I also have a tendancy to give everything emotions. For example, a deep yet bright blue is the colour happy and also the clour of 'S', and Katy Perry's song Hot N Cold in green and pink with an yellow beat. It can also work in reverse, and some colours affect me so badly I have to hide from them.

What I'm wondering is if I should tell people about it. I sometimes forget that lots of other people don't have this, and I say something strange. I want to just tell everyone I know about it, but when I have told people before they kind of go "well, then. you do that" or ask me their colour. The close friends that I have told accept it.

Where I am sorta going with this is, sometimes I feel really overwhelmed by it and want it gone. Other times I see it as a gift, but I just don't know how to tell people about it or if I even should.
