Hi all, Well the other day I went to have my smear test done, silly me after getting myself all ready I had timed it wrong! In case anyone else is unclear smears should be done from the age of 20 and the time to go is 14 days from when you start your period so you count your first day of the period as the 1st day and on the 14th or close as you can to that you can book your test, thought id say as I was unclear on this and got it wrong!
My mum went too hers was booked for after mine and she said it is fine doesnt hurt at all and nothing to worry about, I shall let you know my opinion when I go but I wanted to share as I know a lot of girls worry about it but it saves lives.
Here are some websites...

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/lifestyl...ice/netdoctor/archive/205707.html
http://www.womenshealthlondon.org.uk/leaflets/cervical/cervical.html
Please note I am not a doctor I just wanted to talk about this with you and have shared the advise my nurse told me (when it should be done is what she told me), I have read also if you are not sexually active you may not need a smear. The sites above tell you a lot about this subject! xxx

Hi all me again, well I had my smear today! I was very nervous but it was fine, the nurse was lovely and talked me through the whole thing, it only took about 10 seconds to do not even that really, they put a little metal devise thing in your vagina though the nurse warms it under the tap first, then once inside it opens a little and the nurse finds the cervix and puts a little brush thing in to take the cells, you cant feel it at all, I would say its like have a really odd thicker willy inside you |(sorry i am trying to explain) then you wait 4-8 weeks for a letter for the results.
I wanted to share for those who maybe afraid to go, it isn't any where as bad as you think in fact I wonder what I was stressing over, now I wont have to have it done for another 3-4 years, when I do I wont be half as nervous!
take care all xxx |
